| It's
fair to say that Ben can handle almost any kind of drumming, and if
he's ever come across musical styles he is not familiar with he has
adapted to make it work. His vast live and recording experience has
given him the ability to turn up anywhere in the world, play any kit,
and sound great........Read On........
Ben is generally considered to be one of the best second generation rock'n'roll/rockabilly drummers' ever. His talents have taken from the seediest dives, to the classiest venues worldwide making many records along the way. As you will see, this is just part of the story. Ben played on his first album with the band he formed "Restless", in 1982. The band's fan base, and record sales grew from this point as did Ben's abilities. By the late 80's there wasn't a shuffle, swing-beat, or straight-ahead rock'n'roll rhythm that Ben couldn't handle, but he knew there was more to learn. It was time to go back to school. Inspired by 70's funk drummers, and sticks-men he had worked in with in his early solo projects Ben set about developing an individual, hard hitting, poly-rhythmic style that would easily crossover to any musical genre. He calls this period of learning "the big improvement", and improve he did. From getting nowhere with any non rock'n'roll auditions he went for, Ben was being offered the drummer's stool at first go. At one point he was in 5 bands simultaneously playing musical styles as diverse as indie-dance, funk, progressive rock, psychobilly and punk. |
